Decorate (frame) at Magick
This picture is an example of what you can do with only the decorate feature at Magick using the _raise_ and _sunken_ effect. Here is a good project to try.

  • 1. after you have entered an image at Magick, click on the Decorate TAB. For this effect we will only be using widthxheight numbers without the +#+# that is used for _frames_ I will explain more about that later. Enter numbers like this in the parameter slot... 30x30... **IMPORTANT**= erase the _gray_ that is in the color slot, and put none or leave it blank click on the _sunken_ and then click the decorate grey button.

  • 2. click the Decorate TAB again, and change your numbers to... 15x15... click the _raise_ and then the decorate button again. Now you will have a shadowed _bevel effect_ on your picture.

  • 3. click the decorate TAB again, and enter these numbers.. 5x5... click on the _sunken_ and then the decorate button. You will have an effect like my picture above.

  • 4. now you can add a border to your picture. Put these numbers in the slot... 20x20.. put a color word or hex number in the _color slot_ and choose.. _border_ click the decorate button. You can add more raises or sunkens to this border color if you want, but lets just add a frame.

  • 5. to FRAME we have to have widthxheight numbers but also _bevel numbers_ the bevel numbers CAN NOT EXCEED the width of the frame you want to make.

FOR EXAMPLE: if you want a 20x20 frame, you CAN add these numbers.. 20x20+10+8, which is a 10 _inner_ bevel and a 8_outer_, but you CAN NOT use these numbers 20x20+10+12, because 10+12 is 22 and is greater than the size of the frame.

5A. now put 20x20+5+8 in the parameter slot, choose _frame_ and put in the color slot the color word or hex number color you want your frame to be. click the decorate button, and your image will be framed.

Practice making different effects with raise and sunken, both on the picture, but also by adding borders and frames, then raise and sunken again etc. One cool thing to try is making really BIG RAISES, starting with 50x50, then 30x30, then 10x10 which makes a sort of tunnel effect on the image, you can do it with sunken also, or do a raise, then a sunken, then a raise, then a ....
