Please note - the images in this tutorial and directory, are not for snagging and posting in other groups. This is a PsP tutorial converted for use at IM. The PsP tute can be found at Photo Over Art I hope you enjoy this as much as I do! The idea is to crop out a section of the image and save it. Then we will apply an oil paint effect and comp the cropped image back onto the image, creating an artistic photo overlay. Cropping should be done at IM. Quick and Easy Crop Tute You can do this with any image, but it works best with a nice central subject or one with several areas for the focus. You'll see - read on! Let's go through the steps for the one at the top, then I will show you some other examples. Take this Original to IM. Enter url, and click view. Go to effects and apply adaptive sharpen 1x1. Go to transform, choose crop, and check the reset gravity box. For this one, I cropped out the boat with a small section of the flowers. So - Co-ordinates are: +192+54 ---- Then -50-40 NOTE & very important! Keep track of the FIRST set of crop numbers ( the + numbers). You will need them. Output your cropped piece and ccp the temp url. It should look like this Cropped Back up to before the first crop - or you can just click the input tab and start over by re-entering the url. Go to F/X - choose OIL PAINT --- Type 5 in the text box. Go to EFFECTS - choose spread at 3x3 Go to composite. Paste the temp url into the box. Choose NORTHWEST for gravity. Comp OVER Co-ordinates are the same as the + amount you cropped off the image ( which is why you need to keep track of them). +192+54 Here is the Result . Once you are comfortable with the cropping part, you can try a double overlay. Using this Orginal . I cropped out one piece at +163+39, then -55-160. Crop 1 Cropped a 2nd piece at +67+157, then -100-15. Crop 2 Oil Paint at 7. Spread 3x3 Comp the 1st piece at NW +163+39 Comp the 2nd piece at NW +67+157 Result Couple of tips - oil paint 1, 3, 5, & 7 seem to work best. Spread is optional, but I think it adds a little more to the "oil paint" look. Use 1x1 up to 4x4 for best results. Make sure you keep track of those numbers from the first crop, and use them for the composite. ALWAYS choose Northwest for the gravity. Here are a few more examples: For this one, I just cropped off the bottom -0-147. In this case you don't need to remember numbers, cause you are just going to recomp it at the top. Original Crop -0-147 Crop Oil paint at 5, spread at 4x4. Result Original Crop +208+77 Crop Oil Paint at 3, spread at 2x2. Result Original Crop +0+190 Crop Oil Paint at 3 - NO spread. Result Had to try some faces! Face 1 Face 2 Some images used came from Susan's Images, others were googled. Nurserys are good place to look for flowers. Have FUN!
