This lesson came about because of an "oops" while I was working on this little guy: Turtle posted by Bernie. I wanted to make a path to put him on, so I decided to use wave. I accidently put in the wrong first number. I wanted 6 x 3, ended up with 60 x 3. This is what he looked like. Turtle Oops
I thought, hmmmm..., that looks like something to explore, so after I finished the turtle, I went back to IM with a couple different images to see what could be done. This is the first image I played with: Blue Rose All I did was WAVE @ 60 x 3. Rose 60x3 You can crop off any of the resulting image that you don't want. I didn't crop so that you can see the whole effect. The image duplicates itself, and the bigger the first number, the bigger the 2nd and third image in the series. Cool, huh? The 2 images below will give you a better idea. This one is @ 100x3: Rose 100x3 This one is @ 200x3: Rose 200x3 Ha! I thought "needlepoint"! Grabbed this image Pink-white roses and went back to see what I could do with it. First I resized it to 1/2 it's original size. Wave @ 60 x 3. Composited the original using SOFTLIGHT, then COLORIZE. Sharp a@ 5x 5. Rotated right. Results: Needlepoint Rose Next I tried a scene. Wave 60 x 3, Sharp 5 x 5, composited using SCREEN, this time. Results: Needlepoint Scene Then I cropped it & resized it - Wow! Now it's a whole new thing! Kinda like looking through a rain streaked window! Rain in the Garden 60, 100 or 200 for the first number, x 3 seems to give the best results. 60 x 2 is not enough and 60 x 5 is too much. I hope you will give it a try, play around with numbers and different images. The results could be fabulous! And It's FUN! |
