Lesson Index for those who are just joining in

Make a pattern background at IM.

If you click on the word format, it will give you a list of patterns to choose from. Some have more black than white and some have more white than black.

Here's the IM Generated Backgrounds page in case you need to refresh your memory on how to get a patterened bg.

If I ever get the time, I'll make up a page of examples, but for right now, you're on your own!

UPDATE- Linda has made us a directory of examples. Thanks so much!!

Linda's Examples

Stranjer's Page has the greys listed and lots of great info on things you can do with them.

I chose hs_cross. It has a lot of white

Go to F/X. Choose IMPLODE @ 1

Go to F/X. Choose IMPLODE -25 (negative 25)

Decorate if you wish - I did a black border of 3 x 3 and a frame of 20 x 20 +5+5 in white. This way I can use it on any image, or color it using reset.

Your results should look something like this: Example 1

You can add a dingbat, then comp it on a bg of your choice.

Example 2 - No background yet

You can also use it as a mask - resize an image (or a plasma - gradient bg) to the same as the frame, then comp it using multiply. Or try comping it using difference! See what happens!

NOTE - if you end up with an overall black looking oval, after your implode, go to enhance and use NEGATE. This will turn all the black areas white.

Recolored frame linen, comp'd girl (gif) over @ southeast - painted several areas orangered using floodfill.

Example 3

Results using Example 2 - Color reset honeydew, composite using difference, painted a few petals.
