| At 4404 feet, Ben Nevis is the highest summit in the United Kingdom, and its bulk dominates the surrounding Lochaber countryside. Near the top of the mountain are the ruins of an observatory abandoned in the early part of this century, and in 1911 the car used to deliver supplies to it was sucessfully driven to the very summit of the mountain. |
