Patience

Patience

As a Mom and Dad of small Children You can imagine the patience we desired during those days years ago.

My Husband Bud and I had both been Praying earnestly for Patience, in raising Our three daughters.

We wanted to be good parents and knew that we needed patience and understanding to rule within our hearts along our way.

This lesson we learned has a humorous turn of events that all happened in one day.

Bud was out washing the car and our rear view mirror just come off in His hands, now that was a test of patience since he was right in the middle of his job. Now He was going to have to get a new one or take it to be repaired.

While He was dealing with His dilemma outside I was giving the girls their baths. All of a sudden the Ceramic soap dish just pulled out from the wall. So I had a little dilemma of My own to deal with inside.

Bud came in to share His dilemma with Me but patience was still ruling within His heart, then I had to share the soap dish incident with Him and I could tell that was going to weaken him a bit.

He tracked on back out side and I finished the girls baths and was rejoicing in My Heart, because I knew God had it all under control and it would all work out in the end.

With the Girls all spic and span and comfy playing in their rooms, I thought I would fix Bud a Cold Drink to take out to Him.

I reached for the Fridge handle to open the door, and as I pulled it open the whole door came off the hinges to My Great surprise. I was so shocked I stood there in wonderment as what to do.

I ask one of the girls to go get their Dad and have Him come quick, for that door was heavy and thick. I had to hang onto it with all my strength.

What a sight that had to be to Buds eyes when He came through the door, here was the fridge door standing on the floor Me holding on with all my might :-)

As He put it back on it's hinges we both knew that this wasn't an ordinary day of events in any way! We had to laugh at it even though our patience was running thin about then.

What are the odds of three things that are supposably permanent fixtures to all come off in one days time, very slim odds of that ever happening, but it did.

By days end we had all of the odd dilemmas of the day repaired and was settling down for the night to say our Prayers.

Bud started Praying and thanking the Lord and as He started to say Lord give me Pati.........He couldn't finish the rest of the word. He tried again and He just couldn't get past Pati.....We had to set and laugh.

He said Lord I don't want patience, just give me Your wisdom and understanding to handle every thing that comes my way.

We still laugh about that to this day even after all these years. We learned that when we Pray for patience we are actually praying for trials to come our way. James 1:2 tells us to consider it joy when we encounter trials because the testing of our faith brings forth patience.

I don't think either one of us ever prayed for patience again, we figured that we would have enough trials along our way without us asking for added ones.

For God does answer our Prayers and teaches us many lessons all along Our way! They usually are not humorous, but He does slip a few in there from time to time, to show is that even learning a Godly Lesson can be humorous in the end!

Big Jesus Hugs..........Paula
