More Draw Fun - Winter Tag

Do not reproduce or duplicate this tute. This means no rewording or laying out the steps a little differently, and then calling it your idea. It's still copying - Give me a break! If you think the tag is nice enough to have made several, the fair thing to do is post _this page, doncha think?

Image Magic

Dee sent me this image & asked if I could duplicate it for IM. I chose a winter theme, & this is how it turned out. Hope ya'll like it.

Thank you, Dee, for the challenge!

For the side part of this finished tag, you can find some nice winter & Christmas type gifs & lines at these two sites. Annes Place and BannerzRus

You need to choose your main image first, then take it to a color grabber & choose the 2 colors you want for your blocks.

This is my resized main image. More about how to determine the size a little later in the tute.

Off we go - At IM make a 400 x 400 xc, meta color=none. Paint it whatever color you've chosen for your bg. Mine is #1F253B

Go to draw - choose rectangle from the drop bx. This will stay the same throughout.

We will do the lower right block first:

FIll color = white -- no stroke

Co-ordinates    +125+125 +370+370

Draw again -- Change fill color to the 2nd color you've chosen. Mine is #91A1C3

Change the co-ordinates to    +130+130 +365+365

Upper left block:

FIll color = white -- no stroke

Co-ordinates    +30+30 +285+285

Draw again -- Change fill color to the 2nd color you've chosen. Mine is #91A1C3

Change the Co-ordinates to    +35+35 +280+280

Now we need to figure out how big or small we want the main image for comping.

Point the arrow to the upper left corner of the upper left block, inside the colored area. (NOT in the white area) Move it out and down a bit, so you have a small border around your image after it's comp'd. Refer to this for a visual.

Click the arrow once, then scroll to just below your pic, & look at the first 2 numbers - something like this 48 48. Write it down.

Now point the arrow to the lower right corner of the _same block_ , inside the colored area, at about the same distance from the side and bottom as you did at the top.

Click once, & check your numbers They should be something like 268 268. Write it down.

Note, these are the co-ordinates I got. Yours may differ depending on exactly were you point and click.

Now subtract the smaller number from the larger and that will be the size the image needs to be for comping. Mine is 268 minus 48 which = 220x200 for the resize.

Use these co-ordinates as a guideline for comp'ing the main image. Adjust as needed.

I comp'd mine NorthWest, +48+48 OVER (you can use any other comp that gives a nice result)

For the trees on the side, I cropped a single tree from this bar

Since they are bright green, I comp'd them using LUMINIZE, to lose the green, & pick up the bue color in the bg.

#1   East   +50-20, then

#2   East   +50+65

You can also use dings for the main image & any decorative ding for side bit.

Annotate your name in choice of font and color. In keeping with the theme of the image, I did mine with a white fill fist, then blue.

Crop +20+20, then -20-20, then resize if desired.

Just one last note - I _know that this could be accomplished quicker, using a fill and a stroke at the same time. I chose to do it this way, so that ya'll can see how the co-ordinates work. If you notice the change in the numbers from the 1st white draw to the 2nd colored draw, it will help you understand how they work a little better. I also think you get a cleaner look doing it this way.

These are just some examples of what you can do, & you are very welcome to do them as is. But, please try your own images, too.

Have fun!
