Koya Image Magic

This is not quick, and it does take some planning & work, but it is fairly easy, once you've collected all the parts. ; ))

It's a little difficult to give you step - step instructions,  because each one will be different depending on the images you select.   So I'll give you the basics and how I did mine.

Choose an image or two or three.   The images that will work best for the focal point ( the girl) are ones that have distinct 'things' that you can crop out. Refer to the image at the top.   I used her face and her hand.

Once you have selected your images, crop out 2 or 3 pieces to be used in the composition, and resize them to about 100 x 110 or so. Not too, big.

Take all of the images,  originals and the cropped pieces to IM and use COLORMAP,  GRAY,  256 colors.   Keep the dither bx checked. Then use various levels of gamma or brighten to lighten them up a bit. This will depend on how dark your image is to begin with.

Make yourself a template of the lines,  (that go behind the smaller pics) by drawing them on a transparent xc. Size 150x150.

Stroke color = rgba(0,0,0,.50) You can make these darker if you like.

Stroke size= 1 or 2

Parameters:

+0+10 +150+10      Then:

+0+50 +150+50

Trim and output & save as a png.

Now we're ready to assemble the piece.

I used this Rose for the background, grayed and lightened.

I comped the girl (original) (grayed & lightened) NE, positioning it over to the right a bit,  slightly off the edge of the bg image. I used softlight for the comp. You can experiment with hardlight & overlay,  too. These are the 3 comps I found work the best. Multiply may work,  depending on the darkness and pattern in your images.

The black flower   was comp'd WEST. Used multiply for this one because the bg was all white. I moved it quite a bit to the left,  using a negative number for the parameter.   Like this: -100-0.   Note - I resized the flower to the same height as the rose,  first.

Next comes the lines you drew. Position them about like I have them on my image. Again,  hard to give you exact locations because it will depend on your images.

Lastly comp your smaller pics over the lines,  keeping them centered on the lines as best you can.

I also added a line of x's using annotate to cover up the bottom edge of the girl.

Once you're happy with the composition, output and save.

You can use a gradient, plasma or a plain colored XC for the finished work.

Make one of the above, the same size as your image.   Composite the image using multiply,  softlight,  or any other comp that works for you.

The one at the top was comp'd on a soiid color, softlight. Here are a couple more examples:
