Koya Image Magic

~ Quick and easy ~

This works great with pngs or gifs for the displace comp, but you can achieve nice results with a jpg, too. See the other examples & instructions at the bottom of the page.

I used this png -  fall trees .

Make an xc 400x400, meta (color) = black. NOTE - make the xc to fit your image if using a different one.

Comp the png center - OVER.

Effects - Spread at 70-90 (I used 90 for this one)

Effects - Gaussian Blur - 10x10 or 10x20

Comp the png center - DISPLACE.

Comp the png center - OVER. ( yes - again)

Output as a jpg, & CCP that url.

Back up to _before_ the last _over_ comp. You should be on the displace comp'd image.

Go to draw. Choose ellipse.

Use a fill color that is NOT in your image. No stroke.

For the trees, I used white.

Parameters:

200,200  80,165  0,360

If you are using a different image, you will need to adjust those parameters for the size oval you want.

Next, matte out the white oval using replace, matte, fuzz 25000. You need a high fuzz to get rid of all the white.

Composite the url you ccp'd,  center,  DSTOVER.

If there are jaggies showing around the edge of the oval, go to draw again and use a stroke only. Use the same paramters as the first draw. I used sienna and stroke of 2.

Here's a few more examples using jpgs.

NOTE - If you use a jpg, enter your image and go right to effects. Do the spread and gaussian blur. Then comp it DISPLACE. Draw your oval (or try a rectangle),  Matte the oval, and comp again using DSTOVER.
