More fun with emboss using draw to make some really super frames

Start with a black xc 400x400. (I did try this using a white bg and colors for the draw. It came out a big blobby mess. Dunno why it doesn't work with white bgs.)

Go to draw and choose CIRCLE.

Stroke color = white, size = 3. No fill color.

Co-ordinates are:

+200+200 +110+110

Note - a quick explanation of what the above co-ords mean.

The first 2 numbers (+200+200) are the exact center of the 400x400 square. The 2nd 2 numbers (+110+110) decides the diameter of your circle, or how far in from the sides and top the outer edge of the circle will be. In this case 110 pixels.

The bigger the second set of numbers, the smaller the circle, as it is moving the outer edge _IN_ toward the center. The smaller the second set of numbers, the bigger the circle, as it is moving it _OUT_ toward the edges of the square.

Try a few different numbers and you'll see.

Ok back to our frame. You've done the first circle. Go to draw again.

Change just the co-ords to:

+200+200 +130+130

Go to EFFECTS - choose emboss @ 5x7

Now, isn't that COOL?

EFFECTS again - gaussian blur @ 2x2 if you want to smooth out the jaggies. Or you can leave it for a sharper image.

I finshed it by comping this  flower  from Moon's black and whites.

Comp'd SCREEN ( use OVER, if you want a sharper image )

Center -30+45, rotate -35

Trim, output as a jpg.

By saving it as a B&W, you can comp any grad, plasma, bg, etc, to give it some color.

Circle Example

Example - no blur, comp over.

Then, I was curious to see what a rectangle would look like.

Started with the same black xc 400x400

Draw - RECTANGLE Stroke white, size 3, no fill

+50+50 +350+350

Then - +25+25 +375+375

Emboss at 25x27

Wow! Rectangle Result

5x7 or 9x11 gives interesting results, too. Try them all!

I also tried the circle over a colored bg. I used #003030 bcolor, white stroke, and ended up painting the outside area black. This is the  result  @ emboss 5x7.

Rectangles seem to work best with bgcolors. For this one, I used #002020, white stroke. Painted the outside edge black. Emboss at 5x7, then painted the inner square black. Result

Have FUN!
