Redux       Arbor

I saw this deco image in a recent share from Mare. TY, Mare! Decided it would be easy to duplicate it for Image Magic.

Hope you like the look! It's real easy to do, so give it a try.

Have a look at my examples, and then choose a background, and an image you want to "frame".

Background used with the Cat

Background used with the Duck

Once you've chosen a bg, ccp that url and go to IM, & make a 300 x 350 white xc.

Go to DRAW & chose ellipse.

No fill color - Stroke color = black, size = 5.

+150+170 +155+170 +0+180

Transform = FLIP

Scroll to paint functions.

Paint the LOWER part, (the part under the "arch") of the image.

BLACK, FLOODFILL, FUZZ = 65000

Go to composite, and comp the bg, using MULTIPLY. Check the tile across bx.

NOTE - when choosing a bg, try to choose one without any black in it. You'll see why in a minute. I had a heck of a time finding the right fuzz for my cat, cause of the black.

Scroll to paint, choose FLOODFILL, MATTE, FUZZ = 50000 - 65000 (will work best)

Point arrow to the black area, and click.

Output as a GIF, and save.

Now - if you are using an image that isn't a gif, you can just resize it to 300 x 350. The problem will be finding images that looks good with those proportions.

I used a textured bg for the cat - resized to 300 x 350, then comp'd the cat over. You can decide which way you want to go with it. (Note - I did the comp on the PC, so I could use a dropshadow.) If you use a solid colored bg, you can do comp dstout, paint the cutout area, and blur. Then comp again, over. Move image by 3 pixels right and down.

Ok - so once you have your image at 300x350, comp the GIF you made with draw using OVER.

Go to transform, & flip the image.

Go to DRAW and repeat the draw from above. You can use a slightly larger stroke if needed, to cover up any jaggies. 5 - 7 should do it.

Flip the image right side up, & OUPUT and save.

It should look something like this

If you want a framed look all the way around the image, like at the top, make an xc in the size you want - ie if you want a 20x20 frame make it 340 x 390. Then composite the same bg you used for the "arch", OVER, & ck tile across bx.

Then comp your image over that.

For the Duck, I skipped matting out the black, and comp'd the duck over, then did a small border of 2x2 to complete it.

Have fun!
