Let's Make Magic Some TIPS & a few More examples. TIp #1 - When using white for the ding color, on a transparent bg, it's hard to see it against the light grey background at IM. So, use a color for the ding, you _can see, until you are satisfied with placement and size. Then back up, and change the color to white. Tip #1A - I highly recommend that you do NOT use a transparent background for dingbats. They don't come out with nice clean lines, and have that ratty, ragged look. Try one of each and you'll see what I mean. Better to decide what color background you want to use, make a blank, and annotate on it. Tip #2 - Any dingbat can be used to make a mask. The dings that have just outlines, can be filled in using the paint function. TIp #3 - Use the color chart, & choose colors that go well together, and use the "two annotation" method outlined in the lesson to achieve depth. Tip #4 - Once you have become comfortable using dings, here is a great tute on using scale, which can be used for regular fonts and dings. Using Scale by PK Tip #5 - IM now allows you to make transparent colors, which are very useful for dingbats. Here's just one example of what can be done with transparent colors. Christmas Candle with Dingbat Ornaments. Note - some of the procedures or terms below may be unknown to you, right now. Just tuck this away until you've covered the material in class. Glitter Annotate on a transparent bg, using a white fill color. Note - this is the one exception to using a transparent bg. Then composite your favorite glitter using IN. Check the tile across and down box. Gradient Annotate as above. Make a gradient in your fav colors, same size as your ding image. Then composite it using IN. Also, try a plasma background. Glow Annotate on a black blank, using your fav color. This one is mediumpurple, point size 55, gravity center, +0+0. Then spread at 5x5, gaussian blur at 15x15. Annotate again using a black fill, point size 45, gravity center, +3+3. Gold Fill Annotate on a black blank, fill color=white, then composite a pretty gold fill or any other background, using multiply. Then add the dekor lines dingbat for a "stand". Masked Leaf Annotate on a black blank, fill color=white. Then composite with an image of your choice using mulitply. Examples ~~ Page 2 Make a Flower ~~ Page 3 |
