Gosh, where does one start when they have just had an awesome experience in their life ?
I have to tell you, I am not a teen-ager but a grandma.
So being "captured" by this very AWESOME
band "CREED",is amazing for me .
Amazing because they have put the "rock" back in "roll",
With just a "smidget" of "fire and brimstone"
to make some good old "Southern Rock"
and I am from that beginning . . .
A few years ago, I started listening to country music
because I wanted to be able to understand & relate to the
words, the music, but mainly I want to feel the music . . .
Creed does ALL this 100% PLUS !
I first heard Creed while driving down the Florida turnpike,
100+ miles to see my mother who was at deaths door.
You know how that goes when you are traveling
alone and doing some serious thinking .
You push this button, then that one, trying
to unknowingly get just the right music . . .
I'm not sure where I entered on the song,
"With Arms Wide Open",
only that it hit home . . . The words, the sound, the honest
and the raw feelings, all wound together . . . had me
"releasing my emotions" in no time !!!
What I found to be amazing was Creed's lead singer
wrote this song in celebration of his son's upcoming birth.
And me, I was praying to God to open His arms for this
fragile and newly withering flower, my mother .
It soon finished as I had come into it at the end,
so I started pushing the buttons, only to hear
another song, "Higher", which I immediately tuned in to.
That song pushed my tears back as I listened
to the words with a great big smile in my heart & soul,
"Can you take me higher, to a place where blind men see?"
"to let love replace all our hate"
Come on friends, you have to admit . . . those are some
VERY AWESOME WORDS !!!
I didn't know for a few weeks that it was the same group
singing my newly favorite songs, because here,
the DJ's rarely give the names, they just play continous
"powerplay" songs which I guess the demand is for.
Within a few months, one of my daughter in laws came
over to visit. While she was visiting, the song "Higher"
came on and I commented how much I liked
that song. Her immediate reply was "would you like
to see Creed in concert, they are going to be in
West Palm Beach next week?"
ABSOLUTLY !!!!
I don't know how she did it but somehow she got seats
in the 18th row at the Mars Amphitheater. And yes,
I know to some of you that may be pretty far away,
but having come from a struggling middle-class
upbringing, it was close enough for me . . .
what a night, I will never forget it . . .
I had just had my birthday 11/07, so to me it was kind of
like one of Lifes Beautiful Gifts of Love
Thank You Pam for taking me!
Thank You Scott Stapp for your preserverance !!
THANK YOU CREED FOR BEING SO AWESOME !!!
Thank You Wind-Up for giving Creed a chance !!!!
OK, back to the concert.
I did good until the second song, then the "happy tears" started. I think after the initial realization that I was there, I became, "One", with the audience the remainder of the time.
You see, age has no boundry to the "universal language", which is music
The electricity of "Creed", touched each and every one of us as we sang the songs, raising our index finger to "One", alternating to universal sign language
"I love you" to other's.
Not just one or two of the songs, but ALL of them !
These guys are superb . . . WHAT A PERFORMANCE !
if you listen to the words and the feelings expressed . . .
REALLY AWESOME !!!
And you know what, CREED has two albums out.
Both "My Own Prison" and "Human Clay" are OUTSTANDING !!!
If you have no idea, click onto each song and really listen. Read the words and sing along. If the ram starts messing up it is because your cache if full, so try reloading.
If that doesn't work, turn this darn webtv off, do the 10 min "thingy", unplugged. Then plug it in and listen. . .
Just to let you know if interested, it's been quite a few years since an entire album has hit home with me, (this group has TWO), the last one being Jonathan Livingston Seagull, which is one of my lifelong treasures .
Next, hopefully will be front row seats to
"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one
Count down to the change in life that's soon to come
Your life has just begun"
