Mary was the first born of 9 sisters & brothers. each one only 2 to 4 years apart, except for my sister Rose who was fourteen years younger and my brother Jack who was nine years younger. I was the baby and came along when Mary was twenty-four yrs old. Her first born Cathy is eight months younger than I am. Mary was more like a Mom than a big Sister to me....
Mary enjoyed having company to her home. It was like attending a Feast when you went to visit. She was a great cook and would make various dishes for different appetites...She made the best ravioli in the world and all freshly made taking hours to prepare. I can still recall sitting in her kitchen and watching the loving way she prepared dinner or holidays. I remember once saying to her "You had time to bake a cake also" and she replied "Well, the oven was on anyway".
She was an outstanding Seamstress and would make an outfit on the spur of the moment, if need be, Mary made all her daughters and sisters wedding gowns every detail perfectly made with loving hands of gold.
She was a wonderful and caring Mother,Grandmother, Sister, Aunt,Niece,Cousin and Friend. She was loved for her many wonderful and caring ways. She was always kind and compassionate and a smile that would warm you heart...What A Lady...

One of my most treasured memories is the day Mary was making my wedding gown and said "My baby sister is getting married and you look like a Princess" and we both cried. On my wedding day when I pinned a flower on her dress and saw the love in her eyes was one of my happiest moments with her.... |
