Hi, My Name, as you know, is Sandy. I am a Male Shih -Tzu, that is a breed of Dog. However, I can assure you that although I look like one, I am not.... My Mom calls me her "Little Man" and tells me she swears I am a person in a dog suit....

        ~~Welcome to My Page~~

One day I got lost and found myself in a Shelter. I was confused and in walked this kind lady. I was standing in the cage and immediately I knew she would become my Mommy. I think she knew it also. She asked if she could hold me and when she did I gave her many kisses...

She then asked if she could adopt me. She was told she had to wait 8 days for someone to claim me and also there was a list with 3 people ahead of her. Well, she called every day to check on me and on the eighth day she was there, so was the first lady on the list. She told the lady how much she loved me and that kind lady gave up her chance.

So now the Adoption papers were signed and I was a happy camper.... I was going home! I went home only to find I had a sister named "Princess" who is a Lhasa Apso and was not very thrilled to see me. She had been top dog for 9 years. I was sure it could take no time before she would love me also. Well, I was wrong! She growled and never wanted to play with me, after all I was only 10 months old and what else would I want to do, but play! She wouldn't share her basket and had no toys since she didn't like to play anyway.

My Mommy bought me many toys and I played by myself and sometimes with my Mommy & Daddy. After awhile, I tried getting in the basket with her and guess what... she said it was okay. We have become buddies (almost) and I love her alot. Sometimes, I think she likes me but mostly I think she tolerates me. I am sure Princess will become my best friend in no time. How could she not, I am really sweet....

        SHELTER DOG

        You seem so alone now
as you face the rising sun
        somewhere in life abandoned here
or maybe left on the run
A young life that started out good
has now become a lingering fate
now you stare at the passersby
        and remain behind shelter's gate
once loved by those around you
now betrayed you are left to cry
the fear that lurks within you
        shows worry in your eyes
        fear not protections surrounds you
        and life will make amends
come home with me and start anew
        My beautiful shelter friend
